Jewelry Care Guide

At Meraki & Co. Jewelry, our pieces are designed to be worn and enjoyed regularly. Proper care will help preserve their shine, finish, and overall appearance for longer.

Our collection is primarily made from 316L marine/surgical-grade stainless steel. Selected pieces are made from sterling silver, while some designs feature PVD gold-plated finishes and cubic zirconia stones.

Every order also includes a polishing cloth to help you maintain your jewelry at home.

316L Stainless Steel Jewelry

Most of our pieces are made from 316L marine/surgical-grade stainless steel, a durable material designed for frequent and everyday wear.

Our 316L stainless steel pieces are suitable for daily use and may be worn during normal activities, including showering.

To help maintain their shine and overall appearance, we recommend giving them a simple cleaning at least once a week, especially if they are frequently exposed to soap, lotion, sweat, or other everyday products.

For regular care:

Wipe the jewelry using the polishing cloth included with every order.
At least once a week, gently wash the piece using mild soap and clean water.
Rinse thoroughly after cleaning.
Dry completely using a soft, clean cloth.
Avoid abrasive cleaners, rough brushes, bleach, and other harsh chemicals.
If exposed to lotion, sunscreen, perfume, or similar products, clean the jewelry regularly to prevent residue buildup.

With proper care, 316L stainless steel is well suited for frequent and everyday wear.

Water Exposure

Our 316L stainless steel jewelry is suitable for everyday wear and can be worn during normal water exposure, including showering.

For customers who wear their jewelry every day, we recommend cleaning it at least once a week using mild soap and clean water, then drying it thoroughly and wiping it with the polishing cloth included with the order.

Even though 316L stainless steel is durable and resistant to everyday moisture, we still recommend avoiding unnecessary exposure to strong chemicals such as bleach, concentrated chlorine, and household cleaning products.

PVD Gold-Plated Jewelry

Some of our stainless steel pieces are finished with PVD gold plating.

PVD plating is designed to provide a durable finish suitable for regular wear. However, the appearance of any plated jewelry may still be affected over time by factors such as skin chemistry, friction, frequency of use, and exposure to strong chemicals.

To help preserve the finish:

Clean the jewelry regularly using mild soap and clean water.
Dry thoroughly after cleaning or water exposure.
Wipe gently using the polishing cloth included with your order.
Avoid direct exposure to bleach, strong cleaning agents, and harsh chemicals.
Allow perfume, lotion, sunscreen, alcohol, or other skincare products to dry before wearing your jewelry whenever possible.
Store the jewelry in a clean and dry place when not in use.

Normal daily water exposure is generally fine, but proper cleaning and care can help maintain the appearance of the finish for longer.

Sterling Silver Jewelry

Selected Meraki pieces are made from sterling silver.

Unlike stainless steel, sterling silver may naturally oxidize or darken over time. This is a normal characteristic of silver and does not automatically mean that the jewelry is damaged or defective.

To care for sterling silver:

Wipe the jewelry regularly using the polishing cloth provided with your order.
Keep the piece clean and dry when storing it.
If oxidation develops, gently polish the surface using an appropriate silver polishing cloth.
Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh chemicals, chlorine, perfume, and household cleaning products.
Do not use abrasive cleaners or rough materials that may scratch the surface.

Regular polishing can help restore the natural shine of sterling silver.

Cubic Zirconia Stones

Some of our jewelry designs feature cubic zirconia stones as decorative elements.

To keep your stones clean and sparkling:

Gently wipe the jewelry with a soft cloth.
For deeper cleaning, use mild soap and clean water.
Clean carefully around the stone setting to remove residue or buildup.
Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive brushes.
Avoid strong impact, dropping, or bending the jewelry, as this may loosen or damage the stone setting.

If Your Jewelry Is Exposed to Lotion, Sweat or Other Products

Jewelry worn every day may naturally collect residue from:

Lotion
Sunscreen
Soap
Sweat
Cosmetics
Skin oils
Perfume
Other personal-care products

If this happens:

Gently wash the jewelry using mild soap and clean water.
Rinse thoroughly.
Dry completely with a soft cloth.
Finish by gently wiping the piece with the polishing cloth provided with your order.

For frequently worn jewelry, we recommend doing this at least once a week.

Polishing Cloth Included With Every Order

Every Meraki & Co. Jewelry order includes a polishing cloth so you can easily maintain your jewelry at home.

You may use it:

After wearing your jewelry
After cleaning and drying the piece
When fingerprints or light residue are visible
Whenever you want to restore the surface shine

Use the cloth gently and avoid excessive rubbing, particularly on plated finishes.

Unless specifically stated by the polishing cloth manufacturer, we do not recommend washing the cloth because some polishing cloths contain cleaning agents that may be removed during washing.

Storage

When you are not wearing your jewelry:

Keep it clean and dry.
Store pieces separately when possible to reduce scratching.
Avoid placing heavy objects on delicate chains, pendants, or adjustable pieces.
Keep jewelry away from harsh chemicals and cleaning products.
Make sure jewelry is completely dry before storing it for an extended period.

Everyday Wear

Our 316L stainless steel pieces are selected because they are practical and durable for everyday use.

You may wear them during normal daily activities, including showering. However, like any jewelry, regular cleaning and proper handling will help maintain their best appearance.

A simple weekly routine of washing with mild soap and water, drying thoroughly, and wiping with the included polishing cloth is generally recommended for customers who wear their pieces every day.

Important Note

The appearance and lifespan of jewelry may vary depending on:

Frequency of wear
Skin chemistry
Exposure to chemicals
Friction
Environment
Storage
Cleaning habits
How the jewelry is handled

Normal scratches, signs of use, oxidation of sterling silver, and gradual changes caused by ordinary wear are not necessarily manufacturing defects.
